The limited edition Plum Noir 5-row crystal horse browband combines 6mm Preciosa Maxima Dark Orchid with warmer Amethyst inner rows and glossy opaque Jet outer crystals for a deeper, more defined finish. Handmade on curved English Sedgwick leather and available only while the remaining retired Dark Orchid crystal lasts.
Unsure of the Dark Havana Brown Shade?
Havana is a deep, dark chocolate brown – a traditional British bridle shade that can appear close to black in some lighting.
Deep plum tones, subtle movement in the light, and a colour that feels richer the longer you look at it.
The Plum Noir crystal horse browband is built around Dark Orchid, a Preciosa crystal that is no longer in production. This 3-row version gives a softer, tonal finish with 6mm Dark Orchid centre crystals and 3mm Amethyst outer rows.
The centre row uses Preciosa Maxima crystals in Dark Orchid, a subtle effects crystal that behaves differently to standard purple stones.
At first glance, it sits close to Amethyst in colour. In the light, the difference becomes clearer. Instead of a simple surface sparkle, Dark Orchid has depth. The light appears to come from within the crystal, giving flashes of deeper plum with cooler undertones that can shift slightly towards blue.
The outer rows use 3mm Preciosa crystals in Amethyst, a warmer and more traditional purple.
This contrast gives Plum Noir its layered look without becoming harsh or overly bold.
Dark Orchid has now been retired by Preciosa.
This browband can only be made while the remaining crystal chain lasts. Once it is gone, this exact design cannot be recreated. Only a small number will be made across the 3-row and 5-row versions.
Black leather gives stronger contrast and a sharper finish.
Dark havana leather gives a softer, warmer look.
Antique brass adds depth and richness. Silver plated gives a cooler, brighter finish.
The 3-row version is the more refined option. It keeps the colour tonal, with Amethyst framing the Dark Orchid centre row instead of creating a strong black border.
Choose this version if you want depth, purple movement, and a polished finish without the stronger outline of the 5-row design.

The United States has recently updated how parcels from the UK are handled. The old low-value allowance has been removed, which means all commercial parcels now require duty and full customs processing on arrival.
To keep things straightforward for you, all US orders from Unicorn Browbands are sent through Royal Mail’s Postal Delivery Duties Paid (PDDP) service. This means the import duty and Royal Mail’s clearance fee are paid in advance, and the amount you see at checkout already includes these costs.
• Your parcel should arrive without any extra fees being requested at delivery.
• The customs label shows the PDDP mark which confirms duty has been prepaid.
• If anything unexpected ever happens, please get in touch and we will help sort it out.
These rules came into effect in 2025 and apply to all UK businesses sending goods to the USA, regardless of parcel value. We use PDDP so that everything is handled ahead of time and your order can travel smoothly through customs.
